GONE WITH THE WIND

Gone With the Wind by Victor Fleming, regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, was adapted from Margaret Mitchell’s book of the same name. Set in the southern United States against the backdrop of the American Civil War and the Reconstruction era, the movie sees the dreamy Clark Gable and beautiful Vivien Leigh in lead roles. Gone With the Wind narrates the story of Scarlett O’Hara (Leigh), the headstrong daughter of a plantation owner in the State of Georgia. It follows her courtship of Ashley Wilkes (played by Leslie Howard) who is actually a married man, and later, her marriage to Rhett Butler (Gable). The most successful movie in box office history, Gone With the Wind has been periodically re-released throughout the 20th century and is deeprooted in pop culture.
