A romantic drama based on R K Narayan’s The Guide, the runaway box-office hit also had memorable music by the legendary S D Burman. The film tells the love story of the married Rosy and the guide, Raju, who encourages her to follow her dreams. The two, though, end up being unhappy and estranged after Rosy becomes a famous dancer and Raju does forgery to make sure that she does not meet up with her ex-husband. The film was both a telling commentary on its times, but also way ahead in its depiction of a woman who decides to follow her heart, singing Aaj phir jeene ki Tamanna hai. Thugs of Hindostan November 8 Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya Starring Amitabh Bachchan Aamir Khan Katrina Kaif Set in 1795, the film focuses on India’s freedom struggle and features a band of thugs who are out to free the country from the British East India Company. A film in the historical fiction genre, it is the most expensive Bollywood film made to date.

Ghoomketu November 16 Directed by Pushpendra Mishra Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui Ragini Khanna Richa Chaddha A comedy, the film revolves around a writer who goes off to Mumbai from his hometown, Lucknow, in search of a break. He gives himself 30 days to make it in the big city.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald November 16 Directed by David Yates Starring Eddie Redmayne Katherine WaterstonWith J K Rowling as the writer, the second edition of Fantastic Beasts series is a major draw for all Rowling fans. The fantasy film tracks the adventures of Newt Scamander and Albus Dumbledore as they take on Grindelwald and the enemies of the wizarding world.
