Editor’s Note – Dec 2017
“There is no such thing as social life in an oncologist’s life,” a renowned doctor once told me, jokingly. A few years have passed since, and today I wish I could go back in time and tell him that he was probably wrong. Ever since I began working on WeCanServe, I have been extremely fortunate to interact with exceptionally talented and dedicated doctors, apart from brave survivors and innovative individuals. These doctors are the real warriors behind their patients’ zest for life. They refuse to confine their lives between hospital walls, and instead go out there and make things happen.
Cancer, for many, may seem like the end of possibilities, the end of life. But these doctors and patients prove otherwise; they teach us that anything is possible with a little bit of vigour and unflagging determination. Through this magazine, we at WeCanServe hope to make your lives a little more better, a little more inspired. Every page within the book, story within the pages, and people within the stories have equally inspired and evoked compassion and gratitude within us. It has been a privilege journeying alongside my team.
The past few months have given me more life lessons than I’ve gathered my entire life. It has been eye-opening, refreshing and motivating, working within deadlines, collaborating with experienced professionals and watching all the talented people in our work space at play. There is no greater joy than watching one’s hard work come to fruition, and today, I cannot be prouder. I will forever take pride in my team, and in my readers out there, for making it all real. Sending love and light your way!
