Editor’s Note – Jan 2020

The much-awaited new year is here. A year which India has been waiting for, with bated breath, ever since late President A P J Abdul Kalam wrote about what he foresaw for the country in his acclaimed book, India 2020: A Vision For The New Millennium. A book that envisioned the country becoming one of the world’s top four economic superpowers by 2020. While the debate rages on about the country’s economic growth rate, it must be argued that the country’s people have stepped up to shape a better future for their fellow citizens.

In our cover story, we feature five such exemplary citizens, who have contributed to making life better for their underprivileged fellow beings. Some of them went through personal tragedy before realizing that the world around needed a change; some saw suffering around them and wanted to provide succor. All of them have been single-mindedly determined in pursuing their goal of helping the needy.

Live Health, which is featured in our Startup section, looks at helping patients get their lab results quickly, and with zero room for error. Mumbai-based NGO, Love Heals Cancer, look at providing support not just to cancer patients and survivors, but to caregivers as well. Our Institute section features the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, which has been working hard to provide the best in treatment and care for decades.

We live in stressful times, and thanks to the fast-paced growth of technology, parenting has become more stressful than ever. In our Lifestyle section, we give you tips on how to handle some of the common points of concern most parents have to deal with.

We hope 2020 brings you health and joy.

Happy reading.
